How Do You Rotate Tires? Which Direction?

Tire rotation is a rather standard practice. Usually, the tires get moved from front left to rear right in a counter-clockwise direction. However, your owner's manual will be more specific. There may be a specification that if tires are not rotated every certain amount of miles, the warranty will be invalidated.

It is a good idea to have your tires rotated when you change your oil since the car is already off of the ground. Some owner manuals have that in their regular maintenance schedules as well. The reason for this is that tires wear unevenly, depending on their placement on the vehicle. Rotation makes for a smoother ride and can prolong the life of the tires. Always replace worn tires. Worn tires are unsafe. Your tread should always get checked when your tires are rotated.
