Kia wows the crowd at European auto show with electric concept vehicle

Is Kia adding a new electric vehicle to its lineup?

The annual worldwide automotive exposition circuit kicked off its first major European date in Switzerland at the Geneva International Motor Show. Kia certainly attracted a lot of attention at auto shows in Detroit and Chicago with its all-new Telluride crossover SUV. However, the manufacturer is moving in a slightly different direction across the pond. So, is Kia adding a new electric vehicle to its lineup? Breaking driver’s dependence on fossil fuels is a prime objective for most automakers, including Kia. They already have a hybrid sedan and crossover SUV, but this new concept vehicle could eliminate the need for gasoline altogether. Let’s take a look at what could very well be coming to the Classic Kia Carrollton showroom in the future.

“Automotive design is about capturing the heart and making it beat that bit faster for that bit longer. We believe that there’s absolutely no reason why that should change simply because the car is electric,” Gregory Guillaume, Vice President of Design for Kia Motors Europe, said in a press release. “That’s why our all-electric concept is designed to not only get your pulse racing but to also signpost our holistic and emotional approach to electrification.”

Kia is being pretty tight-lipped about a lot of the specifics of its new electric concept sedan. To be sure, it has a radical exterior design that goes way beyond any architecture language the automaker is currently employing. The new electrically-powered sedan comes with a transparent roof. Not a sunroof or a moonroof, but a completely see-through roof that is built from one single piece of glass that also includes the windshield.

This will give potential drivers and passengers unprecedented views and great natural light.

Additionally, the front-end of the new Kia electric concept vehicle features new illuminated elements. These special accented features will make the outline of the vehicle unmistakable and further accentuating the manufacturer’s signature tiger nose grille. Engineers have included a new feature that has the Kia script light-up when the driver approaches the vehicle.

The interior of the vehicle will be outfitted with more than 20 individual high-definition screens. Not only will this give the driver and front passenger unprecedented access to information but could also signal that a new type of connectivity technology is coming to Kia vehicles.

Kia did not release any kind of performance specification information. However, it seems pretty likely that it will feature plug-in hybrid batteries and could offer a few hundred miles or more of electric-only range.

You don’t have to wait to see what Kia have to offer right now in terms of performance, technology and fuel economy. Make an appointment with a Classic Kia Carrollton product expert to learn more today.
