Is the Kia HabaNiro a real vehicle that is going to be made?
There are several vehicles in the new model lineup at the Classic Kia Carrollton showroom that rank among their class’ most fuel-efficient. Even though our manufacturing partners largely have a strong hold on fuel economy, that doesn’t mean they aren’t looking at continuing that dominance when the next set of technology is finally ready for mass production. So, is the Kia HabaNiro a real vehicle that is going to be made? Well, they say to never say never. The automaker’s newest concept vehicle does make an interesting case for being something that could show up at dealership’s around the country, including Classic Kia Carrollton, maybe. Let’s take a look.

“We wanted this concept to be comfortable navigating city streets, carving turns on a coastal road and off-roading with confidence to remote wilderness adventures,” Tom Kearns, vice president of design for Kia Design Center America (KDCA), said in a press release. “We imagined a car for everyone and nearly everything. Then, when we saw the finished product, we were blown away by the imagination of the HabaNiro’screators and its laboratory of technology and we want it in our driveways. Today.”
As its name suggests, the Kia HabaNiro concept is a member of the existing Kia Niro family that has already gained a lot of attention from buyers and the automotive press. However, the company’s engineers have some very lofty goals for this spicy new electric vehicle. First, if the HabaNiro goes into production, it will be fully electric, feature all-wheel-drive and is aiming for an EV range of more than 300 miles.
In fact, the Kia HabaNiro has been conceived to deliver such impressive performance that it could eventually replace several vehicle platforms that we’re already familiar with.
As you can see from the photos, the HabaNiro will be unlike anything that is currently available from Kia or any of its competitors. It will be incredibly easy to get in and out of the new Kia concept thanks to its vertically-opening doors. Additionally, drivers will be able to get the most important information possible without taking their eyes off the road with its planned heads-up display that will encompass the entire windshield. This might not make it into production, but it’s really fun to think about the possibilities.
