Kia Lineup Includes the Most Vehicles with Top IIHS Safety Ratings

The Kia brand has announced that it has become the brand with the most vehicles with Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Seven 2019-2020 models hold the title of Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS and five 2019-2020 Kia vehicles hold Top Safety Pick ratings. In order for vehicles to earn the Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS they must earn a rating of “Good” in all six crashworthiness tests, as well as an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for front crash prevention and “Acceptable” or “Good” for headlights. Five Kia models earned the title of Top Safety Pick for the 2019 year, including the 2019 Kia Soul, 2019 Kia Rio, 2019 Kia Rio Hatchback, 2019 Kia Cadenza, and 2020 Kia Telluride.

What Kia Vehicles Earned Top Safety Pick+ Ratings?

Vehicles must earn “Good” ratings for all six crashworthiness tests, “Advanced” or “Superior” ratings for front crash prevention, and a “Good” rating for headlights to earn the Top Safety Pick+ title. Seven of the 12 top-rated Kia vehicles earned the 2019 Top Safety Pick+ rating. The seven vehicles that hold this title include the 2019 Kia Forte, 2019 Kia Niro Hybrid, 2019 Kia Niro Plug-In Hybrid, 2019 Kia Optima, 2019 Kia Sorento, 2020 Kia Soul, and 2019 Kia Stinger.
