As we mentioned elsewhere recently, the 2019 Kia model year is perhaps the most exciting in the brand’s history. Thanks in large part to the immensely successful Stinger, almost every vehicle on the lineup has been refreshed or completely redesigned leading into 2019. Among the former is the 2019 Kia Optima in Carrollton TX, having undergone some minor design enhancements and receiving a few new technologies and features.
Before the Stinger was introduced, the Kia Optima was probably the most recognizable vehicle on the lineup. Having been introduced way back for the 2001 model year, it’s tied with the Rio for the second-oldest Kia vehicle (behind the Sportage). Having been through four generations, the Optima is constantly reinventing itself to provide shoppers with something fresh to meet their needs. Thus far, each generation has lasted five years, so we might see generation five for the 2021 model year.
Until that point, we’re content with the recent facelift that the Optima has undergone. Taking design inspiration from the incredibly popular Stinger sports car that was just introduced last year, the new Optima is sportier than ever, both inside and out, which is only enhanced by its performance specs – especially thanks to the 2.0L turbocharged powertrain on the top trim level.
As for other upgrades to the 2019 model, more Advanced Driver Assistance System technologies have been made standard across the entire Optima family of vehicles, while the UVO telematics system has been completely updated. In terms of the former, the Optima now comes standard with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Forward Collision Warning System, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning and more.
