Three years ago, the Kia Sportage was completely redesigned. Since then, it’s been holding its own in the compact crossover segment and we’re pleased to continue offering. It makes such a great option for shoppers looking for more space than a sedan offers but who don’t want a massive SUV, but just saying that doesn’t necessarily convince shoppers to choose the Sportage. So, instead, we thought we’d see how it measures up to one of its biggest competitors by pitting the 2019 Kia Sportage vs 2019 Ford Escape.
Taking just a single glance at the table up above will prove just how comparable these two crossovers are to one another, but also highlights each one’s advantages. We’ll go through the table row by row to show analyze the data and show you where each vehicles’ strengths lie. Starting with the first row, which looked at horsepower, the Kia Sportage is in the driver’s seat thanks to an additional 13 horsepower. Admittedly, 13 HP isn’t a huge advantage, but an advantage is an advantage.
The second and third rows look to fuel economy, which is hugely important in today’s marketplace. Again, not huge advantages but advantages nonetheless, the Sportage achieves an extra 2 miles per gallon through city streets and an extra 1 mpg on the highway. The fourth row shows the one area that the Ford Escape excels, which is in cargo capacity as it offers an extra 3.3 cubic feet of space to fill with whatever you need to bring along.
If you think the Sportage’s advantages outweigh the Escape’s, be sure to schedule a test drive right here at Classic Kia of Carrollton. We cannot wait to see you behind the driver’s seat of a new 2019 Kia Sportage!
