Kia made waves last year when it introduced the brand-new Kia Stinger and now that it has entered its sophomore year, we’re every bit as excited as ever. Very few people, if any, would have ever expected the Kia brand to be a contender in sports and muscle car segments, but the Kia Stinger has done just that. Today, we’re going to see how it measures up against a true muscle icon by pitting the 2019 Kia Stinger vs 2019 Ford Mustang.
Taking a look at the table above you can see where each vehicles’ strengths lie. They’re both quite comparable to one another, which we expected but Ford purists will probably be surprised by. We’ll go through the table row by row to analyze the differences, starting with the first row which analyzes combined fuel efficiency. The Stinger managed to get better efficiency through the city while the Mustang is better on the highway, but they evened out to match at 25 mpg combined.
Unfortunately, though not surprisingly, the Mustang does deliver quite a bit more power than the Kia Stinger, though perhaps not as much as those Ford purists would expect. Only 55 horsepower separates the two sports car, meaning the Stinger could certainly keep up and deliver a nearly equal driving experience.
Where the Stinger pulls out in front is when it comes to space, as the Mustang has to make room for all of its goodies. The trunk of the Stinger offers an extra 9.8 cubic feet of space while the cabin offers an entire extra seat. If you can overlook the deficit in power or if you’re in need of all that extra space, then the Kia Stinger is the option for you. Give us a call to schedule a test drive!
