We talked up the new powertrain of the 2021 Kia Rio lineup – complete with new engine and new transmission – over the course of our introduction, so let’s now pop the hood and see just how powerful and fuel efficient this new powertrain is.
Both 2021 Kia Rio trim levels – the 2021 Rio LX and the 2021 Rio S – are powered by a new 1.6-liter I-4 Gamma II engine featuring 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a new iVT automatic transmission that helps the 2021 Kia Rio lineup get you up to 33 city miles per gallon and up to 41 highway miles per gallon.
As you approach the 2021 Kia Rio lineup here at our Classic Kia of Carrollton lot, you may think you’re not going to be getting much passenger and cargo space because of how small it looks from the outside. But, as they say, looks can be deceiving, and that’s especially true with the 2021 Rio lineup thanks to it featuring 89.9 cubic-feet of passenger space and 13.7 cubic-feet of cargo space.
