Our second-most popular vehicle and one of the best-selling Kia models currently on the lineup, we were pretty stoked when we got the news that the 2019 Forte would be getting completely redesigned. After being introduced in 2009, it entered its second generation five years later for the 2014 model year. Well, another five years have passed, so it was due for another refresh and boy did it get one. Inspired by the brand-new Kia Stinger, the Forte is sportier and more sophisticated than ever.

New Features

In addition to all of the updated design cues, the 2019 Forte includes a few new features as well. Chief among these new features is an Intelligent Variable Transmission system. But in addition to the new trans, the Forte features a standard 8” touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and several Kia Drive Wise technologies including Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Blind-Spot Collision Warning and more.

Improved Specs

The new Forte features a more efficient powertrain than its previous iteration. The second-generation 2.0L Nu 4-cylinder engine, which features both Atkinson Cycle technology as well as a cooled EGR system, allows the Forte to deliver the same 147 horsepower as last year while improving fuel efficiency. The new 2019 Forte achieves 31 mpg combined with the FE trim & 6-speed manual transmission, or 35 mpg with the IVT. The other trim levels, LXS, S and EX, achieve 34 mpg combined.
